Today’s perverse reality finds military funeral honors being bestowed upon Ashli Babbitt- the insurrectionist who in storming the Capital died trying to overthrow the constitution, not defend it. Her family is also getting a 5 million dollar settlement prompting other pardoned Jan 6 rioters to ask for settlements as well.
In the meantime Chicago awaits a military deployment of the National Guard and ICE agents- who will be here on 29 day orders so as not to have to pay full active duty and housing and health benefits that kick in at 30 days. Then they just reactivate you for another 29, pieces of shit that they are. It will be interesting to see how this plays out considering our Governor and Mayor strongly oppose it. Governor Pritzker warns there’s another agenda besides crime.
“He’d like to stop the elections in 2026 or, frankly, take control of those
elections, He’ll just claim that there’s some problem with an election,
and then he’s got troops on the ground that can take control if, in fact,
he’s allowed to do this… It’s thwart the media, it’s create mayhem that
requires military interdiction. These are things that happen throughout
history, and Donald Trump is just following that playbook… They should be coordinating with local law enforcement, telling us when and where they’re coming and whether it’s ICE, ATF or another agency but they’re not. It’s disruptive and dangerous.”
They’re expected to target the Mexican Independence celebration in mid September. Any citizen should be alarmed. The fact that armed troops will be in my hometown is not something anyone would have
thought. The courts have found that his use of the National Guard is
illegal and violates federal law by helping to carry out law enforcement activities, and have banned Trump from creating a “national police
force with the president as its chief.”
“It breaks my heart to report that we have been told ICE will try and disrupt community picnics and peaceful gatherings,” Pritzker said Tuesday.
Betting he’ll continue to bulldoze his way until in the immortal words of Betty Ford, enough of us “just say no”. As your local correspondent I’ll be living it firsthand and commenting throughout, but fascism is here.
The suppression of opposition and individual liberties. Check. Investigations and persecution of political opponents. Check. The use of the military against citizens. Check. People disappearing off the streets. Check.
Like most cities, Chicago can use help fighting crime and would welcome if targeted smartly, but the myth propagated by Trump that we’re the murder capital of the world is as insane as he is.
Violent crime is down 20% and murder is down by 1/3 over last year. Yes it’s bad but it’s not the worst. Not even close when broken down by population. There’s at least 15 other cities, most in red states with worse stats. But that doesn’t fit their narrative so they’ll forge ahead, (facts be damned) and play out a political circus hoping for a reason to quash the inevitable response.
Create the problem, then have the calvary ride in to pick the scab until
it bleeds.
