Cymbals

A trip to Istanbul was a holy grail quest to the birth of modern cymbals. Avedis Zildjian was an Armenian alchemist that fled to Turkey in 1623 where he developed what would become the cymbal of choice of the Ottoman Empire. They had a good run until the early 1900’s when because of the Turkish Genocide of Armenians the family fled to America. Figuring some remnants must still exist my search became the reason for our trip, one in which I was duly rewarded as you can see.
